Illegal immigration!

Does anyone have an answer to this problem?

I was asked this question recently and this is my short answer. :)

It’s part of a continuing break down in family, social, and religious values. Immigration has been an issue for a very long time. Most people immigrating whether legal or illegal are family people looking for something better for their children. The talking heads (quoted below) are just like the ones already here in politics – they have their own agenda – power and money.

While I’m honestly frustrated with keeping things legal if legal begins to mean forced immunizations and government mandated health care and schooling then I’m going to be one of those advocating less than completely legal myself. For the current situation I place MORE than half the blame on the US government for making the process so expensive and confusing. And guess what.. the govt. gets to decide what is and is NOT LEGAL. I like to try and avoid prejudice but anyone who comes here without proper immigration procedures in naturally illegal – even criminal.

Personally I find myself on both sides of this issue. I want everyone involved to just take a step towards something more ethical. We need to defend our borders not create more laws. We need to immigrate and assimilate not infiltrate and infest.

Examples from Scripture:

* The tower of Babel shows us that people with different languages, race & culture can’t get along by design

* Abraham moved west and his decedents kicked out those living there before him similar to the early citizens of this country

* Lot lived with the heathens and his family was corrupted and destroyed by incest

* Isaac and Jacob found wives from within the family rather than intermarry (unlike Esau & Solomon)

* Joseph escaped to Egypt with Mary & Jesus similar to those experiencing governmental persecution who seek asylum

* The man who was beaten by thieves along the road and a traveling Samaritan (half-breed) helped him

* Finally Jesus tells the folks in Capernaum that “no prophet is accepted in his hometown” but is eventually executed by the political oppressors as a insurrectionist only after he crossed the religious powers-that-be

Meanwhile

* Jesus teaches us to “love our neighbor as yourself”

* Moses teaches us also to love “the stranger who sojourns with you”

God has historically used wars and occupations to show his judgment on a people. Immigration is a result of economic and governmental hardships. What we really need to work on keeping America a free and attractive place to live but if we don’t protect our borders and enforce ethical laws there won’t be an America to attract them.

Sweet Fellowship

What an awesome evening of food, fun, and fellowship. There was great sharing among the Christian brothers and sisters. Everyone was encouraging.

We called the event "Spring Fling" and everyone was encouraged to share their personal experiences and then we prayed for and blessed each other. This must be what heaven is like!

If you are looking for close fellowship find a home fellowship through the homechurch meetup or look on one of the many home fellowship directories or registries.

Save Toby?

$50,000 in donations and merchandise sales will save Toby! If you haven’t taken a look at SaveToby.com, or are hearing about this for the first time, here’s the issue. A man claims to have found an injured, young rabbit under a porch one day, and then nursed it back to health. He then named the rabbit Toby.

This guy swears that he will have Toby butchered and served for dinner on June 30, 2005, unless he is able to raise $50,000 in donations or merchandise sales. If he is able to raise the money, he then promises that Toby will forever live the life of a king (you can decide what that means).

The story, photos of Toby (one of which shows Toby sitting in a cooking pot), possible recipes and answers to questions (some dealing with the legality of the website and the underlying idea) are all provided at http://www.SaveToby.com.

New Start

I'm out of the job market for a while. I've now got a real job with salary, bonuses and benefits.

I've taken a contract doing network services in the Medical services arena. I'll probably spend most of my time at Portsmouth Navy Medical Center and the rest servicing clinics around the Hampton Roads area.

Phew!
